@joshtpm I went down the Wikipedia rabbit hole after reading this tweet, and found myself further confused. I hadn’t understood that “mining” is also the method by which transactions are verified. As fewer (and eventually no more) new coins are produced, what’s the incentive to “mine?”

The "this is counterintuitive" all over the top of the Wikipedia page would make me reconsider my feelings on it hard, as others have clearly tread here before.

Just like quantum computing is not magic solve any hard problem computing, quantum networking isn't magic super fast communication

@fasterthanlime I too have gotten into long arguments with Wikipedians about the Monty Hall problem (you have to know the strategy of the person revealing the goat for the problem to work which means some reframings are wrong)

@liminal_warmth I prefer breadth-first to depth first here, because being well-regarded isn't a strong indicator of deeper truth. I suck down a few wikipedia articles every time an intellectual I'm not clear on pops up. Few warrant deeper reading, though Jung did get some.
