@OpenTable I tried resolving a problem with the customer service chat and it seems that he knows nothing about how the OT reservation system works. He provided me a link which isn't the issue and then just left the chat.

This way it just vaporized. $180 billion wiped out. No more wealth effect. It would be fascinating to see OpenTable cancellations this weekend.

@OpenTable thinks they're helping restaurants by suspending your account if you don't show. they don't consider that deleting someone who DOES show 99% of the time might actually hurt restaurants. Fix that

@craigie_b @OpenTableUK I rang the restaurant to inform them and they said they had been dealing with similar calls for 24hrs. It seems that the scammers locked them out of OpenTable meaning the restaurant could not contact people and warn them. So it's really all down to OpenTable...

Also: why is there not a Hinge/Calendly/OpenTable superapp solving this problem?

@IanShepherdson @DiMartinoBooth @a_sermersheim This is my hypothesis as well. Added dynamic is that uncertain availability due to staff shortages is, anecdotally, leading to increased use of OpenTable reservations. Mix issue as well.

@cbsutton3 @soren_iverson I see. I mean the way it's done today is OpenTable's API tells the restaurant there's a reservation and they issue a confirmation number. If they started issuing fraudulent numbers their customers would get annoyed. But perhaps it'd be more elegant with a trustless proof of sale.

@Dplakala Not really sure, maybe a driver issue. Make sure you have the up to date version of the driver for your tablet or some other driver like opentabletdriver. if thats not it, I would just hit the google
