@TheBrattPack63 @espnplayer is just crap. Most of the times when there is a commercial break the Chromecast link just freezes, and it requires you to restart the stream and connection. Reported many times, no fix. NhlTV had no such issue. Not to mention blackouts if you travel.

Major reason why NHL tv ratings are down is because of the ridiculous digital boards. The fact is they don’t work. It ruins the quality of the broadcast. Disappearing pucks,/players, distracting images, viewers are sick of it. It would laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

Since everyone is talking bad NHL TV ratings, I’ll throw out my ‘fix the game’ idea; college FB style OT.
-Each team gets 1min 5v4 PP (and can score multi times)
-If still tied, each team gets ***ec 5v3
-SHG at anytime is sudden death winner
-No loser pts, game can end w/ tie

Watching this Leafs-Bruins game & it’s obvious why NHL TV numbers are down so bad.
This “marquee matchup” means so little because the Bruins are already running away with the division and the Leafs are basically locked into a matchup with Tampa. Have to fix the playoff structure

#NHL TV ratings are down vs last year b/c they scheduled broadcasts directly against the NFL this year. That’s something other leagues try to avoid. They also had blackouts on TNT. With that said, the NHL is not growing their viewers for more macro marketing reasons.

This also only applies to the NHL's national games on linear TV (ESPN and TNT).

@brennan_vogt ESPN plus is fine. It’s cheaper than nhl tv was, and you get much more so that’s not an issue. But the accessibility of tnt and nhl network is pretty annoying. Let alone local issues.

the nhl has 13 games on a thursday and 2 on the following friday.
on a day with 10 games, 7 of them start on the exact same time.

I'm paying $34.99 a month for @Sportsnet NOW and I don't have the option to CHOOSE which broadcast I watch. The Blackhawks are HOME and the broadcast being shown is the BUFFALO feed... FIX THIS OR GIVE IT BACK TO @NHL TV IN CANADA

ESPN blackouts make no sense to me. I’m closer to Tampa than Raleigh but the Pens game is blacked out because it is the Hurricanes. Never had this issue with NHL TV
