Whoa I think I just took down all of Codecademy's CircleCI builds for 20 minutes...
I split a monorepo into two repos and rewrote Git history on each main to exclude dirs from the other repo. Previously we'd enabled the "abort build when a branch has new commits" option...

@jamescmcpherson @hen_hank Yeah the issue wasn't so much the language. But how things are configured in our environment and why we do things a specific way.
To the point on learning resources, they're doing @Codecademy on work time and that's definitely paying off.

@MrLauLearning I do think that's the problem with sites like Codecademy - they seem to focus on the commands and syntax rather than what you'd use them for. I might introduce the "refinement" idea that we used at school - here's an example:

@Monsterlander @oswhyteknits Bootstrap is a great place to start, I think Codecademy has a bootstrap specific set of tutorials. It has it's quirks and annoyances, but it makes the idea of breaking down a page easy to understand. I built my own framework off the principals (but without a lot of the quirks).

@saurinn_ I was self taught, been using it since 2007. I mostly learn by having a project/problem and solving it (lots of googling). I guess one course I can recommend is the Python course at @Codecademy

@coder_krystal @Codecademy I still run my growing SaaS company on PHP. I know it's not "fashionable", but it's rock solid, runs on any server, and has been around long enough to have already solved every problem.

I love that Codecademy doesn't hold your hand too much, learning HTML is fun when you have to problem solve a bit to get it to work.

@bmtrnavsky no worries. It works fine asks all questions when compiled with g++, I signed up for codecademy just to see and it will not read any input from cin, it just skips right past it. I'm guessing it's the executing environment that is the problem.

It’s soooo good. It’s actually what I used to get I to web dev. I keep hearing about beginners buying udemy courses, but I think the problem solving and critical thinking skills you develop on @Codecademy @ @freeCodeCamp sets a beginner up for success getting into tech.
